Hello! Thanks so much for stopping by.

This blog is about many things, but it’s mostly about me and my recent life adventures of being a productive member of society in France, the DC area or wherever else I choose!

After graduating from the University of Virginia armed with a BA in Drama (and a French minor), I lived in France, working as an English Teaching Assistant in Chambéry, France for the 2014-2015 academic year through TAPIF! Read all about it here. I returned home and spent an amazing year working in a public elementary school, while continuing to dabble in theatre, and then packed up my bags for France once again. I headed a little further south to the Phocaean City, Marseille to teach English in three primary schools. After two amazing years in Marseille, I have now been based in Toulouse since 2018, where I earned a Master in teaching English (MEEF) and passed the dreaded CAPES concours in order to become a full-time middle and high school English teacher in France!

This blog also has posts from way back when I interned in Paris during college. If you have any questions about any of these experiences, please feel free to contact me using the form below! I would be happy to answer any of your questions about my internship, teaching in French elementary schools, TAPIF, Chambéry, Marseille, Toulouse, French universities, the CAPES, wine and baguettes, living in DC, being unemployed or anything really!

    1. Hi Isabel, That’s great!!! I really like it here (I’ve been meaning to post more about it but haven’t found time yet! I will soon, je te promets!!). Si tu veux, send me an email (amd5gg @ virginina . edu) so we can meet up when you arrive. There are several other american and british assistants here with me! Bon voyage, alors 🙂

      1. Oh good, I’m glad! I’ve been googling and it looks like an amazing city, but I’ve never actually met/spoken to anyone that’s been there!
Haha I’ll keep my eye out for new blog posts 😉
That’s so nice of you, thank you! I was a bit anxious that I’d get there and not meet anyone my age outside of the office!
